Christmas Songs-Day One

Hi!
I have decided that I am going to do a series of Christmas songs! Each day, I will post one hymn, and one traditional Christmas song! And, our two songs for today are............

                                             O Little Town of Bethlehem
                              Text written by Phillips Brooks and music written by Lewis H. Redner

O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie!
  Above thy deep and dreamless sleep, the silent stars go by;
Yet in thy dark streets shineth, the everlasting Light;
 The hopes and fears of all the years, are met in thee tonight.

For Christ is born of Mary; and gathered all above,
   While mortals sleep, the angels keep, their watch of wondering love.
O morning stars, together, proclaim the holy birth,
  And praises sing to God the King, and peace to men on earth.

How silently, how silently, the wondrous Gift is giv'n!
So God imparts to human hearts, the blessings of His Heav'n.
No ear may hear His coming; but in this world of sin,
     Where meek souls will receive Him still, the dear Christ enters in.

O holy Child of Bethlehem, descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin and enter in, be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels, the great glad tidings tell,
O come to us, abide with us, our Lord Emmanuel.

 And for the next one, we have...............

                                    Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
                                        Lyrics written by Hugh Martin; Music by Ralph Blane

 Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Let your heart be light,
From now on,
Our troubles will be out of sight

Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Make the Yule-tide gay,
From now on,
Our troubles will be miles away

Here we are as in olden days,
Happy golden days of yore,
Faithful friends who are dear to us,
Gather near to us once more.

Through the years,
 we all will be together,
If the fates allow,
 Hang a shining star upon the highest bough,
     And have yourself a merry little Christmas now.

Tomorrow, we will look at 'While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks By Night' and 'Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow'
